Justine Delmet

French Teacher

Originally from Calais (North of France), I lived in Paris for a few years where I completed my first degree (MA by Research (Hons) in French Literature) at Paris-Sorbonne University. In 2012, I had the opportunity to join the University of Warwick for a year where I taught French in primary schools in England and found my true vocation.

After this enriching experience, I decided to specialise in French as a foreign language and I have not looked back since. I hold an MA (Hons) in French as a Foreign Language from Paris-Ouest-Nanterre University and also a PGCE from the University of Portsmouth.

I have been teaching French and Spanish for five years in the UK, in both state and independent schools around London and I am an expert in French A-Level. I am also a DELF and DELE examiner. In my free time, I am interested in modern and contemporary art, EAL, DIY and travelling. I am looking forward to settling in Barcelona and joining the BCG community shortly.

Rosie Palmer

Science Teacher

I am a Secondary Science teacher, specialising in Biology. I studied Marine Biology and Oceanography at the University of Southampton and completed my PGCE at Bath University. I started teaching in 2006 and since then have taught KS3 Science, the Biology component of the IGCSE course and AS/A Level Biology in the UK. I moved with my family to Castelldefels last year and my twin daughters will also be joining the school.

I love my subject and how it explains so much about the world around us and also ourselves. I’m really looking forward to creating fun and exciting science lessons for the pupils to really inspire them in their learning.

We have a fantastic outdoor campus at BCG which we can use to enhance and support what we do in class and to study the natural environment around us. With the new science laboratories we will be able to carry out much more practical work in lessons to really help the pupils get engaged with the subject on an applied level.

I look forward to meeting you all in September.

Bearach Ó Casaide

Year 3A

I am a highly motivated, energetic and conscientious worker who is extremely enthusiastic at the prospect of working with your children. Currently I am employed in an Educate Together school in Kildare, Ireland. I am in charge of a 5th class group and we have had a fantastic year. In addition to teaching my own class I also coach the school athletics team and also the school football team.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I completed both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and History and Masters Degree in English in Maynooth University. Having pursued a Degree and a Masters in a subject area, which I was passionate about prior to becoming a teacher, I understand the importance of developing a love of learning within students in order to facilitate them in becoming independent and lifelong learners.

In addition to teaching I have a vast interest in sports and I have been fortunate enough to represent Ireland at both World and European Championships in Kayaking. In addition to my own sporting pursuits I have worked as a coach in my local kayaking club for a number of years working with children from the ages of 8 to 16.  I am very excited at the prospect of working in the British College of Gava next year and look forward to meeting you all soon in person

Stephanie Birkbeck

Mathematics Teacher

I graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Mathematics & Computer Science and a Diploma in Computing from The Open University. After continuing to study Classics (I had always wanted to!) with The Open University, part time teaching work in local FE led to a PGCE at Master’s Level with the University of Nottingham to teach Secondary Maths. After my teaching Induction year, I also studied Researching Mathematical Learning part time with the University of Warwick.

For me, teaching is the best job in the world - those aha moments! - as well as never being routine.

I have taught in the UK and Spain, most recently teaching predominantly A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, with IGCSE too. I have also taught IB MYP and DP Mathematics and Theory of Knowledge.  I am looking forward to meeting and working with everyone! In the meantime, I hope you all have a happy and peaceful Summer. /p>

Karine Hall

I am Karine; the new Business Studies teacher here at BCG. I am really pleased to meet you and welcome you and your child into my classroom. I am originally from the UK and moved to Barcelona from Rugby with my husband and three children two and a half years ago. We live in Castelldefels and absolutely love it. Before moving here I worked in Rugby for a number of years as a teacher after graduating from the University of Warwick, and prior to that I lived in Sydney working in HR & Recruitment in the IT and Investment Banking sectors.

I was really excited to be given the opportunity of joining BCG as a Business Studies teacher. I have a great passion for Business which will be very apparent in my classroom where we will study a range of specialties such as accountancy, finance, organisation, human resources management and marketing in the most engaging and exciting way.

My philosophy of combining dynamic classroom practice with real life scenarios will challenge them to achieve their academic potential and foster a life long passion for learning.

I have a very open classroom and like to maintain good engagement with parents throughout the academic year. I would love to hear from you to discuss how we can work together to support your child’s studies at the BCG and beyond into their future careers. Please feel free to write to me directly or arrange a meeting through the school
